Description

  • Lead the incremental migration of the Volunteer Impact backend from VB.NET/.NET Framework to C#/.NET 10.
  • Define the migration approach and make technical sequencing decisions for what to migrate, replace, or rewrite first.
  • Modernize the custom security framework for the new stack without introducing authorization bypasses.
  • Strengthen the CI/CD pipeline and add regression gates with the quality engineering team.
  • Ship migrated components to production independently while the legacy application continues to run.
  • Identify, evaluate, and replace legacy dependencies that are incompatible with modern .NET.
  • Work hands-on as a technical anchor, writing code daily and validating changes before deployment.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, DBA, and quality engineering partners to move the platform forward.
  • Lay the technical foundation for future team growth on a modern C# codebase.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional C#/.NET experience.
  • Experience leading or serving as the technical anchor on a .NET Framework-to-.NET Core or later migration of a large production monolith.
  • Proven ability to migrate production systems incrementally with minimal downtime.
  • Deep NHibernate experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience replacing legacy production dependencies such as DI containers, bundling frameworks, service hosting, and unsupported third-party libraries.
  • Hands-on experience with legacy .NET ecosystem components, including ASP.NET MVC-to-Core routing and custom security frameworks.
  • Experience improving CI/CD pipelines for .NET applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small core team with shared DevOps and DBA support and a dedicated quality engineering partner.
  • VB.NET familiarity is a bonus, not a requirement.
  • Experience migrating SSRS reports to a modern reporting platform is a plus.
