Description

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design for transportation projects.
  • Design open and closed storm drainage systems, including culvert sizing, open channel design, bridge hydraulics, scour analysis, storm sewer infrastructure, and floodplain analysis.
  • Prepare drainage reports in conformance with client and industry standards.
  • Assist with plan production for drainage design, stormwater management, detention facilities, water quality/MS4, quantities, and specifications.
  • Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, studies, reports, construction drawings/plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Contribute to project goals and milestones and monitor project progress.
  • Ensure the development of high-quality engineering documents.
  • Follow internal quality control, documentation, and project tracking procedures.
  • Assist with project pursuits.
  • Support the civil-rail and structural-rail design groups in a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 12-16 years of transportation drainage experience.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Progressive responsibility in transportation/roadway drainage design.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, especially the rational method and TR-55 design methodologies.
  • Experience with plan production software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads.
  • Experience with tools such as HY-8, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA SWMM, StormCAD, CivilStorm, WMS, SMS/SRH-2D, FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox, CUHP, FLO-2D, and Mile High Flood District spreadsheet tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Track record of adhering to design budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Thorough understanding of state, regional, and special district design standards.
  • Experience developing stormwater management plans and water quality design/MS4.
  • Experience preparing deliverables per DOT or DOT standards and requirements.
  • Desire to learn and strengthen skills.
