Description

  • Partner with product managers, scientific and clinical stakeholders, and internal teams to translate requirements into integrations, services, and solutions.
  • Design and scale backend data infrastructure, including PostgreSQL data models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and a GraphQL API.
  • Lead the design and integration of new services and components for data and event processing.
  • Own the pipelines that deliver dataset snapshots into the data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with platform and application teams to implement APIs that support new workflows.
  • Write and tune SQL queries by hand and reason about schema design, indexes, and query plans.
  • Draft RFCs to guide complex feature discovery and technical design decisions.
  • Improve operational robustness and usability through documentation, tools, and dashboards.
  • Build features with strong attention to data integrity, correctness, and maintainability across the system lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend development experience, including at least 2 years focused on data platforms and backend infrastructure for data-centric applications.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and production experience with PostgreSQL as an application database.
  • Hands-on experience with data streaming and event processing using Kafka or an equivalent such as RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or Amazon Kinesis.
  • Proficiency in Julia or Python; experience with Julia is a strong plus but not required.
  • Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments, with familiarity in Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or Helm.
  • Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in asynchronous and remote-friendly environments.
  • A collaborative mindset and a self-directed approach, with experience thriving in hybrid or fully remote teams.
  • Strong fundamentals and an interest in learning data infrastructure for health.

  • Base salary of $150,000–$170,000.
  • Equity as part of the total compensation package.
