Description

  • Design and integrate services and components for data and event processing.
  • Develop and scale PostgreSQL data models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and GraphQL APIs.
  • Own pipelines that deliver dataset snapshots to the data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with product, scientific, clinical, platform, application, and support teams to translate requirements into platform solutions.
  • Implement features with strong standards for data integrity, maintainability, and sound system design.
  • Draft RFCs and lead technical discovery and design for complex initiatives.
  • Ensure data transfers are complete, idempotent, and resilient to partial failures.
  • Improve Datastore operations and usability through documentation, tools, and dashboards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend development experience, including 2+ years working on data platforms or backend infrastructure.
  • Strong SQL and production PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, indexing, query tuning, and query-plan analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka or equivalent event-processing systems such as RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or Amazon Kinesis.
  • Proficiency in Python or Julia; Julia experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience deploying and operating containerized services, with familiarity with Kubernetes and Terraform and/or Helm.
  • Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript, including Node.js.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in asynchronous, remote-friendly environments.
  • Collaborative, self-directed approach with experience working effectively on hybrid or fully remote teams.

  • $150,000–$170,000 salary range, adjusted for experience, skills, and location.
