Description

  • Build high-impact product features with engineers, product managers, and designers in pairs, trios, and independently.
  • Lead frontend architecture and evolve reusable UI patterns from real product needs.
  • Co-own features end to end, translating product and design intent into maintainable interfaces and evaluating usage after launch.
  • Simplify complex workflows and improve product usability, responsiveness, and performance.
  • Mentor engineers and uphold code quality through code reviews, including AI-generated code.
  • Advise engineering leadership on priorities and technical direction.
  • Participate in team rotations for on-call support, pull request review, and meeting hosting.
  • Engage with creators and backers to understand customer needs and respond to urgent issues.

Requirements

  • Deep experience building high-quality user interfaces and recent hands-on coding experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and browser behavior.
  • Deep knowledge of Ruby and Ruby on Rails, including Rails views, helpers, and partials.
  • Experience with or strong interest in Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus.
  • Strong product and interaction design instincts, including experience simplifying complex workflows.
  • Experience shaping engineering patterns and conventions at a staff level.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills in ambiguous environments.
  • Interest in pairing and collaborative development; experience in a fully paired environment is a bonus.
  • Ability to work the team’s shared hours of 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Pacific.
  • Typically, successful candidates have 10+ years of software development experience and 5+ years as a staff engineer, though no strict experience requirement applies.
