Description

  • Act as lead writer and client contact for assigned high-volume publications accounts.
  • Develop scientific content across congress materials, manuscripts, plain language summaries, digital enhancers, abstracts, and posters.
  • Lead editorial execution from initial planning through final review to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with editorial, client, vendor, and project teams to keep work on time and within budget.
  • Brief, review, guide, and direct less experienced writers on the account team.
  • Provide scientific oversight for large or complex projects and workstreams.
  • Drive delivery and support internal and external processes, including compliance requirements.
  • Support business development by identifying, shaping, and strategizing new medical communications opportunities.
  • Represent Avalere Health in client meetings, advisory boards, speaker-training meetings, and business development activities.
  • Oversee editorial outputs to ensure agreed timelines and deliverables are met.

Requirements

  • Degree in a scientific or related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience in medical or scientific writing.
  • Experience in a healthcare consultancy or medical communications agency is preferred.
  • Ability to manage a range of scientific content types, including high-volume publications.
  • Experience reviewing content for accuracy, flow, and editorial quality.
  • Proven project ownership and problem-solving ability in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong client communication skills and experience serving as a reliable point of contact for clients and external experts.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience with junior writers.
  • Experience managing client relationships and acting as a key contact.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory guidelines for medical communications.
