Description

Lead the optical validation strategy and roadmap for optical connectivity products.
Develop and execute validation and test plans for optical coupling, insertion loss, signal integrity, thermal stability, and reliability.
Define test methodologies for integrated systems with photonic, electrical, and mechanical interfaces.
Collaborate with design, packaging, and system architecture teams to define validation criteria.
Establish automated high-throughput test frameworks for optical and electrical validation.
Analyze measurement data to identify trends, failure modes, and root causes.
Lead design-of-experiments initiatives to improve system performance and yield.
Work with manufacturing, reliability, and quality teams to support production ramp and long-term reliability.
Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in optical validation and measurement science.

Requirements

M.S. or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in optical module testing, photonic component validation, or high-speed interconnect qualification.
Strong understanding of optical measurements including IL, RL, BER, eye diagrams, and mode coupling.
Hands-on experience with optical instrumentation such as spectrum analyzers, BERTs, network analyzers, power meters, and interferometers.
Experience with data analysis, automation scripting in Python, LabVIEW, or MATLAB, and statistical validation methods.
Familiarity with packaging-related optical performance dependencies such as thermo-mechanical stress and coupling efficiency.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills across multidisciplinary hardware teams.
Preferred: experience with co-packaged optics, silicon photonics assemblies, and near-packaged optical interfaces.
Preferred: knowledge of industry standards and compliance testing such as IEEE 802.3, OIF, or custom CPO protocols.
Preferred: understanding of reliability qualification methods such as HTOL, TC, and mechanical shock/vibration testing.
