Description

  • Lead system design reviews and act as the team architect for data ingestion and infrastructure decisions.
  • Architect and implement scalable data ingestion pipelines for large-scale healthcare datasets, including incremental ingestion strategies.
  • Develop reusable, configuration-driven, containerized pipeline components and toolsets for use across engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver ETL components that meet data requirements.
  • Design and maintain dbt-based data transformation pipelines, including macros, incremental models, and dbt tests.
  • Build monitoring and alerting systems for data ingestion processes and pipeline health.
  • Apply test-driven development, modular design, and other software engineering best practices to data infrastructure.
  • Refactor existing ingestion processes to improve scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and promote coding standards and best practices.
  • Champion AI-assisted development by establishing workflows for using AI coding tools and automating repetitive engineering work with LLMs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of data engineering experience, with a focus on large-scale data ingestion and infrastructure.
  • Strong experience building automated, production-grade ETL processes using Python and DBT SQL.
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks and distributed data processing.
  • Hands-on experience directing AI coding tools and taking ownership of AI-generated code.
  • Interest in integrating LLMs into engineering workflows beyond development assistance, such as data quality checks or anomaly detection.
  • Experience handling varied file types and healthcare standards including HL7, 834, 837, and NCPDP.
  • Experience integrating data from diverse source systems, including EHR and claims systems, via file-based and API integrations.
  • Comfort working with large-scale datasets of 10GB+ and implementing incremental processing and change data capture (CDC).
  • Extensive experience designing scalable data architectures in AWS.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes, plus the ability to build configuration-driven systems without code changes.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including test-driven development, loose coupling, single responsibility, and modular design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for partnering with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data and HIPAA environments is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Must live in and be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to work remotely with a private workspace and stable high-speed internet, and to attend on-site meetings multiple times per year.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $170,000 to $185,000 per year.
