Description

  • Shape the architecture and evolution of Venice’s data infrastructure.
  • Design scalable, intuitive data models and schemas for operational and analytical use cases.
  • Analyze data origins, dependencies, transformations, and inconsistencies across systems.
  • Establish validation, reconciliation, testing, monitoring, lineage, and canonical sources of truth.
  • Define company-wide datasets and metrics for financial reporting and critical business decisions.
  • Improve query performance, reliability, documentation, semantic layers, and data access controls.
  • Enable AI- and natural-language-based querying of trustworthy company data.
  • Make architectural decisions, establish standards, and drive improvements across the data stack.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Finance, Growth, and Operations as a technical owner.
  • Support a SQL-focused PostgreSQL environment scaling toward horizontal account-based sharding.

Requirements

  • Significant experience designing and operating data systems at scale.
  • Expert-level SQL and relational database knowledge, with strong PostgreSQL experience.
  • Deep expertise in data modeling, schema design, and database architecture.
  • Strong understanding of data integrity, quality, lineage, observability, and governance.
  • Experience establishing canonical datasets and company-wide metric definitions.
  • Strong knowledge of database performance, indexing, optimization, and scalability.
  • Experience integrating data across complex product and business systems.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to make architectural decisions with incomplete information.
  • Ability to communicate complex data concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High ownership and comfort working autonomously.
  • Experience with semantic layers, metrics layers, or self-service analytics infrastructure preferred.
  • Experience enabling LLMs or AI agents to query structured company data preferred.
  • Experience with high-volume API, inference, usage, event, financial, billing, or revenue data preferred.
  • Experience with real-time or streaming data architectures preferred.
  • Experience in AI, crypto, or high-growth technical environments preferred.
