Description

  • Support the definition of simulation workflows and methodologies across the team.
  • Drive the use of simulation in early architectural decisions and predictive engineering.
  • Establish and enforce company-wide standards for modeling, including materials, boundary conditions, and safety factors.
  • Guide non-linear and dynamic finite element analysis for extreme events such as robot falls.
  • Validate fatigue life methodologies, including advanced fracture mechanics approaches.
  • Drive mass optimization across systems while balancing stiffness, durability, and weight targets.
  • Design and participate in the test/simulation correlation strategy to improve model predictiveness.
  • Support material characterization strategy, especially for advanced materials.
  • Mentor senior and junior engineers and serve as the technical escalation point for the hardest problems.
  • Lead deep technical reviews, resolve cross-disciplinary physics bottlenecks, and influence product architecture through simulation-informed trade studies.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in industry-standard simulation suites such as Ansys, Abaqus, or SimCenter.
  • Mastery of solid mechanics, vibration, shock, modal analysis, heat transfer, and multi-body dynamics.
  • Experience with high-speed moving mechanisms or lightweighting structures for mobile platforms is highly preferred.
  • PhD or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with a focus on Computational Mechanics.
  • At least 8 years of experience in structural simulation and mechanical design.
  • Proven track record of shipping complex, high-performance electromechanical products in Robotics, Aerospace, or Automotive.
  • Ability to work on-site at a desk and computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds when needed.
  • Vision sufficient to read printed materials and computer screens.
  • Hearing and speech capability to communicate effectively.
