Description

  • Partner with a mentor to define and execute a scoped reinforcement learning project from simulation to a functional hardware demo.
  • Iterate on learning algorithms in high-fidelity simulators and support sim-to-real transfer on physical robots.
  • Collaborate with robotics and hardware teams to troubleshoot system-level issues and understand hardware-software interactions.
  • Help refine training pipelines and data processing tools, including motion retargeting from human demonstrations.
  • Present project findings and hardware results to the broader engineering team.
  • Work on hands-on technical projects that showcase new functionality on humanoid robot systems.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD program in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong theoretical understanding of reinforcement learning and robot dynamics.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with RL frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
  • Familiarity with physics simulators such as MuJoCo, IsaacGym, or Drake.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code; exposure to C++ is a significant plus.
  • Prior experience through academic or personal projects involving robotic control or machine learning.
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to learn from a world-class engineering team.
  • Experience with legged robots or robotic manipulators is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer, with vision and hearing needed for communication.
