Description

  • Serve as the technical authority on supplier manufacturing processes, quality systems, and production readiness for electromechanical assemblies.
  • Own manufacturing process decisions for components such as wire harnesses, PCBAs, motor assemblies, actuators, and connectors.
  • Evaluate supplier equipment, tooling, fixtures, process controls, and documentation through on-site assessments.
  • Lead the end-to-end new product introduction process at suppliers from feasibility review through PPAP/FAI approval and ramp to rate production.
  • Qualify new suppliers by assessing process capability, equipment adequacy, workforce competency, and capacity.
  • Work with design and materials engineering to incorporate DFM feedback and clearly communicate manufacturing intent to suppliers.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for supplier quality escapes and production issues.
  • Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics to identify systemic issues and drive improvement plans.
  • Create and disposition non-conformance reports and deviations, including rework, repair, or use-as-is decisions.
  • Partner with procurement, engineering, and suppliers on sourcing decisions, supplier selection, and manufacturing improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience in at least two of the following: wire harness fabrication and assembly, PCB fabrication and PCBA assembly, electric motor or actuator assembly, connector and cable assembly, or other electromechanical component manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting supplier manufacturing process audits and capability assessments on-site.
  • Working knowledge of PPAP, APQP, process FMEA, control plans, MSA, and SPC with direct application in manufacturing or supplier quality.
  • Experience leading supplier root cause and corrective action investigations using 8D methodology.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or NADCAP.
  • Proficiency with metrology tools and GD&T interpretation relevant to electromechanical hardware.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.
  • Preferred experience in robotics, aerospace, defense, automotive, or other high-reliability electromechanical product environments.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards such as IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and J-STD-001.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems and BOM management.
  • Background in DFM/DFA analysis for electromechanical assemblies.
