Description

Develop accurate models of sensors such as LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, and GPS, as well as vehicle platforms, for simulation.
Validate simulation outputs to ensure modeled sensors and platforms closely match real-world hardware performance.
Build and maintain software tools for visualizing, analyzing, and optimizing sensor and vehicle configurations.
Conduct technical evaluations of sensor configurations to assess range, accuracy, and other performance metrics.
Explore trade-offs in sensor placement, platform design, and environmental factors to improve system performance.
Collaborate with perception, autonomy, and hardware teams to ensure simulation results inform real-world designs.
Develop intuitive data visualization tools for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Continuously refine models and tooling based on feedback from physical testing and deployed systems.

Requirements

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience modeling sensors like LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, and GPS in simulation.
Proficiency with simulation frameworks such as Unreal Engine.
Strong programming skills in C++ and Python for simulation tools and analysis pipelines.
Experience creating tools or dashboards for visualizing simulation results.
Familiarity with physics-based simulation techniques for environmental and sensor modeling.
Ability to validate and align simulation models with real-world hardware and systems.
Strong analytical skills for interpreting simulation data and evaluating performance.
Hands-on experience with physical sensors and understanding of their operational characteristics (preferred).
Knowledge of optimization algorithms for sensor placement or system design (preferred).
Familiarity with AI/ML techniques for improving simulation fidelity or analyzing sensor data (preferred).
Experience with Matplotlib, Plotly, or 3D visualization libraries (preferred).
Understanding of hardware constraints and system-level trade-offs in sensor integration (preferred).
Active U.S. Secret clearance is a plus.
