Description

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic oversight for structural, dynamic, and environmental testing on drones.
  • Direct and support the team in leading complex test campaigns, including defining scope, allocating resources, approving test plans, overseeing operations, and guiding test equipment design and fabrication.
  • Plan and schedule short- and long-term testing projects aligned with product development milestones and risk management needs.
  • Review and approve test documentation and reports to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal, client, and regulatory expectations.
  • Provide technical guidance, conduct performance evaluations, and drive continuous improvement in team productivity, technical excellence, and professional growth.
  • Manage team priorities, resource allocation, and project assignments to align with organizational objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal engineering and product teams, providing feedback on design for testability, reliability, and performance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including vendors, partners, and regulatory bodies, to support successful project outcomes.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in hardware development or test engineering, including 5+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Ability to foster a safety-first culture in a demanding test environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles and their application to complex system validation.
  • Proficiency in at least one coding language such as Python, Matlab, or LabVIEW for test automation and data analysis.
  • Experience with instrumentation and control components such as accelerometers, load cells, thermocouples, pressure transducers, strain gauges, and RTDs.
  • Familiarity with industry test standards and guidance such as MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, and NASA GEVS.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in an engineering discipline.
  • Deep understanding of drone architectures, avionics, flight control systems, propulsion, navigation, communications, and payload integration (preferred).
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, and resources for engineering projects (preferred).
  • Experience planning and delivering complex test programs from inception to completion (preferred).
  • Experience with 3D modeling software and PLM tools such as Siemens NX and Teamcenter (preferred).
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth R&D environment (preferred).
  • Experience developing novel solutions to complex testing issues and advancing test capabilities (preferred).
