Description

  • Oversee the safe operation, reliability, and maintenance of the campus electrical distribution system, including substations, switchgear, transformers, generators, and UPS systems.
  • Develop, implement, and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for critical electrical assets.
  • Provide engineering and commissioning support for campus construction projects and new electrical installations.
  • Lead commissioning, startup, and acceptance testing of critical electrical equipment.
  • Conduct power quality investigations, electrical load studies, and capacity planning for evolving operations.
  • Serve as the campus lead for electrical safety, including NFPA 70E compliance, arc flash study updates, and LOTO procedures.
  • Collaborate with the local utility provider on transmission issues, grid reliability, and planned outages.
  • Manage external electrical contractors, testing agencies, and engineering consultants during outages and capital projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical engineering, facilities engineering, or power systems commissioning.
  • Experience working with medium-voltage or high-voltage electrical distribution and substation equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical maintenance practices, NETA testing standards, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Familiarity with the construction lifecycle, including design review, submittals, RFIs, and on-site construction support.
  • Demonstrated experience commissioning critical electrical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, and ATS.
  • Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, schematic drawings, and protective relay settings.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to coordinate complex electrical shutdowns with minimal operational disruption.
  • Ability and willingness to handle emergencies and planned maintenance outages outside normal working hours.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution (preferred).
  • Experience using power analysis software such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower for short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies (preferred).
  • Experience in high-availability environments such as data centers, semiconductor fabs, aerospace facilities, or heavy industrial plants (preferred).
  • Experience supporting secure spaces such as SCIFs or SAPFs (preferred).
