Description

  • Architect and ship scalable brokerage systems, including gRPC microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and vendor integrations.
  • Advance platform capabilities for multi-region, multi-currency, and global regulatory requirements.
  • Own API quality, performance, and operational readiness for regional workloads.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and engineering standards.
  • Support regional hiring and technical interviews with recruiting.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and engineering culture across Alpaca.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for regional incidents and improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Product, Compliance, local stakeholders, and global engineering teams on regional requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong backend engineering experience with Go or an equivalent language.
  • Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
  • Staff-level experience owning architecture, leading technical initiatives across teams, and mentoring engineers.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or brokerage, including trading lifecycles, settlements, and regulatory considerations.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with regional and global stakeholders across time zones.
  • Willingness to work as an individual contributor without people-management responsibilities.
