Description

  • Research, design, and build a reasoning engine that ingests ambient visit audio/transcripts and produces multiple clinical artifacts from a single conversation.
  • Generate three distinct outputs per visit: a Specialist Referral Justification, Care Management Tasks, and a Patient Action Plan.
  • Stage generated artifacts in the existing Aledade Overlay (“Magic Draft”) UI as decoupled Click-to-Copy or Click-to-Route modules, avoiding direct EHR DOM manipulation.
  • Implement LLM-based evaluation pipelines (e.g., LLM-as-a-judge) to assess accuracy and clinical context of generated artifacts.
  • Design and build APIs and data flows connecting raw audio/text input to structured, actionable outputs.
  • Deploy an alpha prototype to a controlled pilot cohort or simulated environment and manage shipping of the prototype.
  • Measure and report ROI metrics including reductions in post-visit documentation time, artifact accuracy, and shifts in physician task management load.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional clinical and engineering stakeholders to integrate HITL workflows and obtain human approvals.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, HCI, Artificial Intelligence, Health Informatics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Available for the Summer 2026 internship starting June 1, 2026 (10 weeks through August 7, 2026); internship may extend to 3–6 months depending on scope.
  • Proficiency in Python for AI/backend logic.
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks for UI prototyping (e.g., React, TypeScript, JavaScript).
  • Hands-on experience with Large Language Models and related tooling (e.g., OpenAI API, Anthropic Claude, LangChain) and strong prompt engineering skills.
  • Ability to design and connect APIs and manage the flow of data from raw audio/text to structured outputs.
  • Preferred: experience designing multi-agent systems, multi-modal reasoning pipelines, or automated LLM evaluation frameworks.
  • Preferred: familiarity with healthcare workflows, Value-Based Care models, clinical documentation, and post-visit administrative processes (e.g., referrals, care management tasking).
  • Preferred: experience using AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) and strong HCI/product sense for human-in-the-loop interfaces.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including measuring project ROI and explaining complex AI concepts to non-technical clinical stakeholders.
