Description

  • Design, prototype, and productionize next-generation privacy products and infrastructure.
  • Drive and contribute to the full software development cycle: technical design, development, QA, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
  • Work cross-functionally with product, design, legal, operations, security, infrastructure, and other engineering teams to execute product and business strategy.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate with privacy experts to design and integrate privacy safeguards into Airbnb’s tech stack.
  • Provide critical input in code and design reviews, give feedback on product specs and mocks, and influence team roadmap and long-term technical direction.
  • Enable Privacy by Design practices across engineering and product development processes at Airbnb.
  • Collaborate with design and product partners to present tradeoffs and iterate on UX-focused privacy solutions.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of full-stack software development experience with a front-end leaning.
  • Proficiency in at least one major programming language (preferably Java, Kotlin, or Scala).
  • Experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks such as React, Preact, Angular, Next, Vue, or Meteor.
  • Hands-on experience writing, optimizing, and monitoring GraphQL queries and mutations in production.
  • Experience delivering products end-to-end, including ideation, planning, scoping, implementation, and A/B experimentation.
  • Exposure to architectural patterns of large, high-scale web applications (well-designed APIs, high-volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Desire to work collaboratively with cross-functional partners including design, product, data science, infrastructure, policy, operations, and legal.
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree (preferably in Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with privacy regulations (such as GDPR) and privacy-enforcing tooling and infrastructure.
  • Must reside in a US state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (role is US - Remote Eligible; may require occasional office work or offsite attendance).

Benefits

  • Base pay range: $180,000—$220,000 USD (actual base pay depends on experience and other factors).
  • Role may be eligible for bonus and equity.

  • US - Remote eligible with occasional office or offsite attendance as agreed with manager.
