Description

  • Design high-performance distributed systems for global traffic.
  • Develop and refine backend services to improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Drive the transition toward a service-oriented architecture.
  • Enforce SOLID principles, design patterns, code quality, and testing standards.
  • Coach mid-level engineers through code reviews and technical knowledge sharing.
  • Identify service bottlenecks and implement caching and database optimization strategies.
  • Partner with Product and DevOps to create scalable technical roadmaps.
  • Participate in the paid on-call rotation supporting 24/7 service reliability.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional backend development experience with deep PHP expertise.
  • 4+ years building enterprise applications with Laravel, or equivalent senior Symfony experience.
  • Expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and messaging patterns such as SQS or Pub/Sub.
  • Ability to use, prompt, validate, and iterate with AI tools during technical work.
  • Strong SQL and NoSQL knowledge, including performance tuning and transactions at scale.
  • Experience architecting on AWS and managing Docker-based containerized environments.
  • Commitment to clean code, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
  • Fluent English communication skills, including explaining complex technical trade-offs.
  • Experience with SaaS/PaaS, SOA, or microservices architecture preferred.
  • Experience with eSIM, GSMA technologies, Traveltech, or custom SDKs preferred.
  • Must reside in the UK and be fully eligible to work there.
