Description

  • Lead the design of high-performance distributed systems for global traffic.
  • Develop and refine backend services to improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Drive the transition toward a service-oriented architecture.
  • Enforce SOLID principles, design patterns, automated testing, and code-quality standards.
  • Coach mid-level engineers through code reviews and technical knowledge sharing.
  • Identify service bottlenecks and implement caching and database optimization strategies.
  • Partner with Product and DevOps to translate requirements into scalable technical roadmaps.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation supporting 24/7 service reliability.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional backend development experience with deep PHP expertise.
  • 4+ years building enterprise applications with Laravel, or equivalent senior-level Symfony experience.
  • Expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and messaging patterns such as SQS or Pub/Sub.
  • Experience using AI tools effectively for technical work, including prompting, validation, and iteration.
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including performance tuning and large-scale transactions.
  • Experience architecting on AWS and managing containerized environments with Docker.
  • Strong understanding of clean code, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
  • Fluent English communication skills, including explaining technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
  • Experience with SaaS/PaaS, SOA, or microservices architecture is preferred.
  • Experience with eSIM/GSMA technologies, Traveltech, or custom SDK development is a plus.
  • Must already reside in Spain and be fully eligible to work there.
