Description

  • Design, build, and improve production agentic AI systems for complex real-world problems.
  • Develop agent architectures for reasoning, planning, tool use, context management, memory, and long-running workflows.
  • Build secure tools and infrastructure enabling agents to interact with data, APIs, code, and external systems.
  • Develop model and inference infrastructure supporting commercial and open-weight language models.
  • Create evaluation frameworks, datasets, benchmarks, and regression testing for agent quality and reliability.
  • Improve agent performance through prompt and context engineering, model selection, tool design, and inference strategies.
  • Build scalable APIs, asynchronous services, event-driven systems, and infrastructure for agent execution.
  • Implement observability through logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting.
  • Investigate failures across models, agents, application code, and distributed infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with product, platform, security, and domain teams to move AI capabilities from experimentation into production.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • 5+ years of experience building production software, AI/ML systems, distributed systems, or similar technical systems.
  • Deep experience designing, building, and operating production AI agents or agent platforms.
  • Experience with agent runtimes, tool execution, context management, memory, orchestration, and related infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of agent architectures, LLM inference, structured outputs, tool calling, retrieval, and context engineering.
  • Experience building agent evaluation systems, including task-level, behavioral, regression, and production quality evaluations.
  • Strong Python programming and production software engineering experience.
  • Experience with scalable APIs, asynchronous systems, event-driven architectures, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, containers, networking, storage, and scalable architectures.
  • Preferred: security clearance or ability to obtain one, secure code execution, multi-agent systems, model fine-tuning, AI observability, inference optimization, AI security, or government and defense experience.

  • Full-time position based in Pittsburgh, PA or available remotely.
  • Up to 25% travel, including periodic visits to Pittsburgh and Arlington, VA offices.
