Description

  • Build and operate the enterprise data catalog, including onboarding domains and enforcing metadata standards.
  • Implement automated lineage capture across ingestion pipelines, transformations, and data product publication.
  • Write, maintain, and operationalize data quality checks and remediation workflows in pipeline layers.
  • Configure and enforce Snowflake governance controls, including RBAC, security policies, tagging, and masking.
  • Build self-service access request and approval workflows for domain connections.
  • Define and enforce event contract governance, including schema standards, registry configuration, retention, and access policies.
  • Create governance dashboards and metrics for stewardship, quality, metadata, lineage, policy adoption, and access SLAs.
  • Define the enterprise data governance strategy, standards, roadmap, and operating model.
  • Partner with security, risk, legal, architecture, and platform engineers to implement governance controls in delivery work.
  • Build and lead a small governance function as the platform matures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in data governance, data platform engineering, data architecture, analytics engineering, or related roles.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership or lead role overseeing governance programs, stewardship models, or data operating frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience building and operating governance capabilities in a modern cloud data platform.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake governance controls, including RBAC, row/column security, classification tags, masking policies, and access governance.
  • Hands-on experience implementing data catalogs and lineage tools.
  • Experience writing and maintaining data quality rules within data pipelines.
  • Experience governing event contracts and schemas in Kafka, MuleSoft, or similar streaming/messaging environments.
  • Experience defining and executing data product governance standards and lifecycle management.
  • Experience designing governance controls for AI or agent-based use cases.
  • Experience working embedded within engineering teams and implementing controls alongside engineers.
  • Strong understanding of data governance disciplines, including ownership, stewardship, quality, metadata, lineage, cataloging, classification, retention, and policy adoption.
  • Experience in regulated, security-sensitive, or compliance-driven environments preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and systems thinking.
  • Practical understanding of how governance must support AI, automation, and agent-based execution safely.
