Description

  • Break down larger projects into phased tasks and deliver work in collaboration with the team’s tech lead and manager.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and product development decisions.
  • Articulate technical constraints and help weigh risks and trade-offs in feature and system decisions.
  • Support operations and availability of the team’s systems by creating and monitoring metrics.
  • Escalate issues as needed and participate in keep-the-lights-on and on-call responsibilities.
  • Contribute to team growth and development by participating in the interview process.
  • Work on systems on the critical path of every card transaction.
  • Collaborate closely with product and cross-functional partner teams on card product initiatives.

Requirements

  • 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
  • Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to turn a business problem into a solution spanning multiple software components.
  • Ability to write clear, well-tested, and extensible code.
  • Comfort navigating a large codebase, debugging other engineers’ code, and giving code review feedback.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
  • Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.

  • Base salary range of $165,000-$225,000 per year for CA, WA, NY, NJ, and CT; $146,000-$206,000 per year for all other U.S. states.
