Description

  • Own and deliver quarterly and long-term goals that align with company-wide objectives.
  • Lead engineers through ambiguity and open-ended technical problems.
  • Shape the architecture and technical strategy for backend systems across multiple teams.
  • Design scalable and extensible reporting systems that support long-term engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with product, analytics, design, compliance, servicing, and credit teams to define solutions.
  • Establish monitoring, alerting, and recovery practices to improve service reliability and availability.
  • Reduce system fragility and operational burden through operational improvements.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical leadership.
  • Author technical proposals and share best practices through documentation and tech talks.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed backend systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin; Python is a plus.
  • Experience delivering high-volume, highly available systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Airflow and Spark experience are a plus.
  • Experience defining technical strategy for complex, cross-team initiatives.
  • Ability to design elegant, extensible systems that balance short-term needs with long-term scalability.
  • Experience building resilient systems with monitoring, alerting, and safe deployment practices.
  • Comfort driving significant changes in large, complex codebases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including asynchronous communication through technical specs, wikis, and project plans.
  • High degree of organization and ability to surface critical information effectively.
  • Must be based in Spain; visa sponsorship is available for this role.
