Description

  • Lead a small team of 3 to 4 engineers by doing hands-on technical work and setting the example.
  • Write high-quality backend code and tackle the most complex technical problems directly.
  • Guide technical direction for SaaS backend systems using Scala, Python, and TypeScript.
  • Use AI coding agents to increase team velocity and teach others to use them effectively.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of team features from design through production deployment.
  • Design features for multi-tenant cloud scalability, performance, and production reliability.
  • Coach and unblock engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and technical guidance.
  • Partner with Product Managers to refine features, challenge assumptions, and turn ideas into executable work.
  • Monitor production health and help resolve issues quickly when they arise.
  • Drive team execution by removing blockers and keeping milestones on track.

Requirements

  • Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
  • Strong production experience writing code in Scala.
  • Python or TypeScript experience is a strong plus.
  • Deep experience using AI coding agents in day-to-day work.
  • Ability to prompt AI tools effectively and critically review AI-generated code for security and architectural issues.
  • Builder mindset with a strong preference for coding and shipping features over administrative management.
  • Strong product empathy and focus on the why behind what is being built.
  • High-agency leadership with full ownership of team output and delivery risks.
  • Exceptional written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Experience with modern SaaS backend architectures and cloud environments is preferred.
