Description

  • Manage, support, and mentor a team of animators through regular 1:1s, annual evaluations, and goal setting.
  • Partner with the Animation Director and leadership to establish animation vision and foster an inclusive team culture.
  • Develop and refine animation pipelines, workflows, tools, onboarding, Unreal Engine 5 training, and motion capture planning.
  • Deliver hand-key animations and edit motion capture data for first-person and third-person characters.
  • Collaborate with Production on milestone roadmaps, sprint planning, task delegation, and blocking issues.
  • Participate in hiring efforts for the animation team.
  • Contribute to the animation leadership circle by sharing best practices and raising new or outstanding issues.
  • Work cross-functionally with design, art, engineering, animation, and audio teams to support the project.
  • Help identify solutions to developmental obstacles and stay current on relevant technology advancements.

Requirements

  • Shipped multiple AAA titles as a Lead, Team Lead, or Senior Animator.
  • Ideally have experience working in Unreal Engine.
  • Deep knowledge of gameplay and AI animation systems, animation graph/data integration, motion capture pipelines, and rigging/prototyping processes.
  • Strong practical skill in hand-key facial animation, such as FaceFX.
  • High proficiency animating human bipeds, organic forms, quadrupeds, and mechanical objects.
  • Exceptional understanding of animation principles, human anatomy, caricature, form, gesture, and silhouette in real-time interactive gameplay.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working effectively in cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Professional proficiency in both French and English for candidates located in Quebec.
  • Ability to maintain quality under pressure, ambiguity, and fast-changing priorities.
