Description

  • Serve as the primary financial partner to senior scientific, technology, and operations leaders.
  • Own the end-to-end standard costing process and drive gross margin expansion through COGS and yield optimization.
  • Bridge GAAP reporting requirements with clear, actionable financial and cost insights.
  • Lead production planning, capex forecasting, and global supply chain financial partnerships.
  • Develop and improve operational analytics to support rapid, data-driven decision-making.
  • Support pipeline investment decisions and long-range planning with robust financial frameworks.
  • Evaluate platform-level ROI and lead capital allocation and trade-off analyses from early-stage investment through commercial scale.
  • Build, recruit, and develop a high-performing FP&A team.
  • Design and implement lean workflows and automation to support growth without linear headcount expansion.
  • Spend time in manufacturing and laboratory settings to understand operational realities and inform financial decisions.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Deep cost accounting expertise in a manufacturing environment producing physical products.
  • Experience managing $300M+ budgets across COGS, R&D, inventory, and capital expenditures at global sites.
  • Strong command of US GAAP as applied to manufacturing, including standard costing, absorption, ASC 606 revenue recognition, inventory reserves, and warranty accounting.
  • Proven experience hiring, developing, and retaining high-caliber analytical talent.
  • Strong first-principles problem-solving ability and comfort working in ambiguity.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to scientists, engineers, and executives.
  • Expert-level financial modeling skills, including scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and scalable Excel models.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a quantitative field.
  • MBA or graduate degree in a quantitative discipline preferred.
  • Background or genuine interest in life sciences preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems, with Oracle preferred, and understanding of how financial systems connect to manufacturing execution systems.
  • Data analytics experience with tools such as Tableau, Power Pivot, Power Query, SQL, R, or Python preferred.
