Description

  • Assess business unit workflows and identify where automation, agents, custom tools, or integrations create the most value.
  • Design and build internal AI agents, including orchestration, tool-calling patterns, escalation paths, and human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Develop internal tools, integrations, and supporting infrastructure for business operations across functions.
  • Evaluate enterprise data systems for AI readiness, including quality, accessibility, governance, and latency.
  • Build data access patterns that make enterprise data usable by AI systems.
  • Define the AI application lifecycle for internal systems, including verification, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Establish quality gates that separate prototypes from production-ready AI systems.
  • Define and enforce AI governance practices such as permissions, audit trails, behavioral monitoring, and oversight boundaries.
  • Build and operate internal AI infrastructure with self-service capabilities, deployment guardrails, observability, and cost management.
  • Create tools and interfaces that let non-technical teams use AI capabilities directly.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including production AI/automation systems and custom internal tooling.
  • Experience assessing enterprise business processes and selecting the right solution approach, such as an agent, custom tool, integration, or simpler alternative.
  • Proven track record deploying AI agents or automation into enterprise environments where they replaced real manual work.
  • Hands-on experience with agentic systems, including orchestration, state management, tool-calling patterns, and human-in-the-loop design.
  • Experience defining governance or lifecycle processes for AI systems, including quality gates, monitoring, audit, and human oversight.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data systems and the work required to make data accessible to AI consumers, including quality assessment, access patterns, and governance.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals across AI systems and traditional application development.
  • Experience building internal AI platforms or self-service infrastructure that gave non-infrastructure teams safe access to AI capabilities (preferred).
  • Background in cybersecurity, financial services, healthcare, or another regulated industry with high governance expectations (preferred).
  • Experience standing up a new function or practice from scratch within an organization (preferred).
  • Familiarity with navigating the boundary between internal engineering and customer-facing service delivery (preferred).
