Description

  • Lead and manage a team of 5–10 engineers, driving day-to-day operations and ceremonies.
  • Unblock engineers quickly and ensure the team is focused on valuable, achievable deliveries.
  • Own team member professional well‑being, career development, performance management, and regular feedback/mentoring.
  • Review engineering work, participate in pull request reviews, and provide clear, actionable technical feedback to elevate quality.
  • Support and enforce a high‑quality release process by monitoring deployments and maintaining production branch standards.
  • Lead and participate in technical design discussions, align architecture and implementation approaches, and dive deep into hands‑on work when needed.
  • Drive and own the team’s technical roadmap, assess technical debt, and ensure components scale and remain healthy.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Product Owner and UI/UX Designer to plan sprints, align engineering work to business objectives, and maintain a house-level roadmap.
  • Balance sprint commitments with customer-facing responsibilities by managing incoming support tickets, setting expectations, and prioritizing effectively.
  • Promote and evolve an AI-driven software development lifecycle, integrating AI into implementation while assuring human-driven design and quality.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading an engineering team (typically 5+ engineers) in a delivery-focused environment (3+ years).
  • At least 5+ years experience as a software engineer.
  • Strong hands-on technical background with the ability to review code, guide design decisions, and dive deep when required.
  • Experience owning delivery and execution, including sprint planning, backlog management, and release readiness.
  • AI-driven mindset with experience or willingness to default to AI-assisted development while ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and grow engineers through regular feedback and performance management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business context into clear technical direction.
  • Experience working in SaaS, cloud-native, or distributed systems environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Golang and Node.js for backend services and APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with React for large-scale front-end applications and complex state management.
  • Experience building data pipelines using orchestrators such as Dagster or Airflow (or similar).
  • Solid experience designing and operating systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Familiarity with cloud fundamentals (microservices architecture, managed pipeline orchestration, compute) and API analysis for data extraction and transformation.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform (or similar).
  • Understanding of distributed systems concepts (consistency, availability, observability, fault tolerance) and strong knowledge of system reliability, performance tuning, and production incident management.
  • Remote-eligible and based in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Estonia, or Israel (role is remote within these locations).
  • Bonus: experience with cloud-native applications, hands-on experience across multiple cloud providers, or background scaling teams/processes/systems.
