Description

  • Manage your own and your team’s time while working to company priorities.
  • Own complex engineering problems end-to-end, from problem framing and design through delivery and iteration.
  • Take responsibility for critical platform areas to keep them reliable, performant, and maintainable.
  • Build new features and improve existing features across the company’s platforms.
  • Refactor legacy and modern codebases pragmatically while balancing long-term health with delivery needs.
  • Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure software reliability.
  • Participate in and sometimes lead deep technical discussions to drive sound decisions and trade-offs.
  • Work hands-on across backend and frontend systems wherever the problem lives.
  • Identify inefficiencies and help streamline workflows to reduce unnecessary work.
  • Collaborate closely with other senior engineers and take ownership of high-quality, maintainable results.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining complex web applications.
  • Direct responsibility for the development and successful delivery of multiple major projects from inception to production and ongoing operation.
  • Multiple projects in your portfolio that you have worked on for more than 2.5 years.
  • Clear technical communication and the ability to explain and defend design decisions to both senior engineers and non-engineers.
  • Expert PHP development experience with 12+ years, including Symfony or equivalent frameworks.
  • 10+ years of modern JavaScript experience, with React or Vue; Next.js or Nuxt.js is a plus.
  • Expert-level knowledge in at least one additional programming language; Python is a plus.
  • Full-stack architecture expertise across monoliths, services, and hybrid systems.
  • Cloud deployment and scaling experience at power-user level; AWS preferred.
  • Expert Linux user with daily containerized workflows using Docker.
  • Expert in infrastructure automation using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Power-user level ownership of CI/CD pipelines and release workflows.
  • Experience with automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing; TDD where appropriate.
  • Expert knowledge of web security fundamentals, including authentication, authorization, data protection, and secure coding.
  • Fluency with both legacy and modern codebases, including incremental modernization work.
  • Strong independent technical ownership and accountability.
