Description

  • Manage your own time while working to company priorities.
  • Own complex engineering problems end-to-end from problem framing and design through delivery and iteration.
  • Take responsibility for critical platform areas, keeping them reliable, performant, and maintainable.
  • Build new features and improve existing functionality across the platform.
  • Refactor legacy and modern codebases pragmatically to balance long-term health with delivery needs.
  • Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to improve software reliability.
  • Participate in, and at times lead, deep technical discussions and trade-off decisions.
  • Work hands-on across backend and frontend systems wherever the problem lies.
  • Identify inefficiencies and help streamline workflows to reduce unnecessary work.
  • Collaborate closely with other senior engineers and raise the bar through example.
  • Take ownership of your work and deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining complex web applications.
  • Clear technical communication and the ability to explain and defend design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • 12+ years of experience as an expert PHP developer, with Symfony or an equivalent framework.
  • 10+ years of modern JavaScript experience, with React or Vue; Next.js or Nuxt.js is a plus.
  • Expert-level knowledge in at least one additional programming language, with Python preferred.
  • Full-stack architecture expertise across monoliths, services, and hybrid architectures.
  • Power-user experience with cloud deployment and scaling, preferably AWS.
  • Expert Linux user with daily containerized workflows using Docker.
  • Expertise in infrastructure automation with Terraform and Ansible.
  • Strong ownership of CI/CD pipelines and release workflows.
  • Experience with automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing; TDD where appropriate.
  • Expert knowledge of web security fundamentals, including authentication, authorization, data protection, and secure coding.
  • Fluency working in both legacy and modern codebases with the ability to support incremental modernization.
  • Strong independent technical ownership and accountability.
