Description

Deliver medium-complexity initiatives from technical discovery through release, including estimation, scope management, and risk identification.
Design and build accessible, adaptable, scalable iOS components for a global, multilingual audience.
Lead system design for medium-sized projects and make pragmatic tradeoffs among quality, velocity, maintainability, and user impact.
Build software that is testable, observable, and debuggable, including instrumentation for product analysis.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, analysts, and native app engineers to shape and deliver solutions.
Identify technical opportunities and risks, prioritize work, and align teams on outcomes, capacity, and sequencing.
Follow standards for code review, technical design, testing, documentation, accessibility, observability, and decision-making.
Plan work with awareness of upstream and downstream operational effects and share knowledge through documentation and collaboration.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and 5–10+ years of related professional experience, including significant iOS application development.
Strong professional proficiency with Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and iOS architectural patterns.
Experience optimizing iOS performance for smooth, responsive applications under varied conditions.
Experience working autonomously in a self-driven, lean environment.
Ability to communicate clearly with engineering, product, and non-technical audiences across synchronous and asynchronous channels.
Ability to balance ambiguity, technical constraints, user needs, legacy systems, and delivery timelines.
Commitment to the Wikimedia Foundation’s mission and values.
Experience with webview-wrapped experiences, cross-platform mobile applications, or interactive mobile experiences is preferred.
Familiarity with data science, machine learning, AI, agentic coding, Wikipedia or wikitext, content management systems, MediaWiki, or Wikimedia projects is preferred.
Open-source contributions and a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate in computer science, MIS, STEM, or an equivalent certification are preferred.

US pay range of $56.07–$87.13 per hour, adjusted by location for applicants outside the United States.
