Description

  • Translate and copy-edit investigator‑facing, patient‑facing, pharmacy, marketing, help, and UI content into Afrikaans.
  • Localize and adapt content for Afrikaans target audiences, ensuring cultural nuance and accuracy.
  • Perform linguistic quality assurance and QA testing of translations and localized assets.
  • Use CAT tools (e.g., XTM, Phrase, Trados, Smartling) and project tools (e.g., Jira) to manage projects and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project managers, reviewers, and global teams across multiple accounts and programs.
  • Annotate and evaluate content for machine‑learning/NLP training data and related workflows, as required.
  • Manage freelance workload, meet deadlines, and maintain professional communication with clients and internal teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience translating and copy‑editing content in investigator‑facing, patient‑facing, pharmacy, marketing, help, or UI domains.
  • Native‑level Afrikaans as the target language with strong understanding of cultural nuances.
  • Professional‑level proficiency in English (US/GB).
  • Experience with CAT tools such as XTM, Phrase, Trados, and Smartling, and familiarity with Jira.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Desirable: translation degree, or if holding a different degree then 3 years of translation experience, or if no degree then 5 years of translation experience.
  • Availability to work as a freelance, remote resource across multiple accounts and programs.
  • Ability to perform linguistic QA and participate in ML/NLP annotation or evaluation workflows (preferred).
