Description

  • Review information and identify claims that require verification.
  • Research and validate claims using reliable online sources and available evidence.
  • Assess source credibility, relevance, consistency, and timeliness when determining accuracy.
  • Analyze conflicting information and determine the most reasonable conclusion based on the evidence.
  • Distinguish between verified facts, assumptions, opinions, and unverifiable information.
  • Apply critical thinking and judgment to claims that require deeper investigation.
  • Evaluate information in its relevant context, including factors that may affect accuracy.
  • Document findings clearly and assign accuracy ratings according to project guidelines.
  • Maintain high quality, consistency, and attention to detail while completing tasks.
  • Identify the most authoritative source when multiple sources conflict and justify decisions with evidence.

Requirements

  • Educational background or equivalent experience in Journalism, Research, Editorial, Communications, Content Analysis, Public Policy, Law, Information Science, or a related field.
  • Strong written English comprehension and communication skills.
  • Strong online research and information verification skills.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, reasoning, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable making evidence-based decisions when information is incomplete, ambiguous, or contradictory.
  • Ability to work independently and consistently follow detailed project guidelines.
  • Proficiency with web research tools, search engines, and online information sources.
  • Strong documentation skills and the ability to clearly explain findings and decision rationale.
  • Prior experience evaluating local or location-based information is preferred.
  • Background or experience in the legal field is a plus.
