Description

  • Own business-critical systems that take low-latency action in response to signals from Waymo’s fleet.
  • Develop Mapping Change Detection using a blend of machine learning and data analysis.
  • Build robust backend infrastructure and data processing systems that scale with Waymo’s growth.
  • Make high-impact contributions across the Mapping stack, including infrastructure development, tooling improvements, and algorithm advances.
  • Collaborate with other Waymo teams that consume map data.
  • Support the creation of high-resolution maps using both automatic and manual techniques.
  • Build infrastructure to store, process, and distribute map data.

Requirements

  • More than 4 years of total experience.
  • Experience as a backend engineer building server-side infrastructure and data processing systems.
  • Strong coding skills, with C++ preferred.
  • Strong sense of ownership and ability to thrive in ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to apply a broad range of skills to solve business problems effectively.
  • Experience applying machine learning and data analysis, preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field, preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $204,000 to $259,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s equity incentive plan.
