Description

  • Lead the legal work to establish iWill’s US private client offering and support a compliant launch.
  • Advise on legal structures, licensing requirements, regulatory considerations, and state-by-state requirements for estate planning services.
  • Work with Wahed leadership to shape the launch roadmap, service model, and legal operating framework.
  • Develop and deliver legal services for wills, probate, estate administration, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and broader estate planning matters.
  • Draft, review, and maintain client-facing legal documents, templates, precedents, workflows, and guidance notes.
  • Support the development of Shariah-conscious estate planning solutions aligned with US legal requirements and Islamic inheritance principles.
  • Advise on charitable legacy planning, waqf-inspired structures, donor-advised arrangements, charitable trusts, and planned giving solutions.
  • Provide legal input on federal and state estate tax, gift tax, trust administration, probate, and inheritance planning matters.
  • Identify legal, regulatory, tax, and operational risks and recommend practical, commercially sound solutions.
  • Partner with product, compliance, operations, marketing, technology, and customer experience teams to build scalable legal processes and client journeys.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree and active licence to practise law in at least one US state.
  • Membership in relevant trusts and estates professional bodies, Bar sections, or estate planning councils.
  • Strong experience in wills, estate planning, probate, estate administration, trusts, and private client advisory.
  • Good understanding of US estate tax, gift tax, trust structures, inheritance planning, and succession matters.
  • Strong legal drafting skills with experience preparing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, probate documents, and estate planning materials.
  • Ability to work in an early-stage, build-from-scratch environment with a high level of ownership.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to translate legal analysis into practical business recommendations.
  • Comfortable creating legal processes, service models, templates, and workflows for a new legal offering.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to clients, non-lawyers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritise, execute, and manage ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.
