Description

  • Develop and implement project-specific safety plans, training, and Emergency Response Plans.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial health and safety legislation, client requirements, and company policies.
  • Conduct site walkthroughs, inspections, audits, orientations, and training sessions.
  • Identify hazards, develop risk-reduction measures, and support hazard assessments and Safe Job Plans.
  • Monitor employee and subcontractor credentials, qualifications, training tickets, and safety performance.
  • Verify corrective actions and evaluate inspection reports for performance trends.
  • Support incident investigations, compile safety statistics, and prepare reports.
  • Maintain HSE documentation, including inspections, audits, tailboards, SDS records, toolbox talks, and meeting records.
  • Attend client, subcontractor, and daily or weekly safety meetings while maintaining professional relationships with project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the WCB Claims Coordinator on injuries and track Return-to-Work programs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of field OHS leadership experience in the energy sector; utility construction experience preferred.
  • Active National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation required.
  • Professional accreditations such as CRSP, CUSP, or CHSE are an asset.
  • Experience with orientations, inspections, incident reporting, and subcontractor safety audits.
  • Knowledge of required training and credentials, including fall protection, equipotential bonding and grounding, First Aid, and WHMIS/GHS.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work a 21-days-on, 7-days-off shift on projects across Canada.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
