Description

  • Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes end-to-end in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statements in judgment-heavy and high-risk areas.
  • Lead the accounting organization and develop Accounting Managers as independent owners of their close and reporting areas.
  • Prepare, review, and file quarterly and annual SEC reports, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K, and related disclosures.
  • Partner with the Chief Accounting Officer on technical accounting conclusions and documentation for complex or non-routine transactions.
  • Monitor new accounting standards and SEC guidance, assess their impact, and lead implementation as needed.
  • Own the monthly accounting for stock-based compensation, quarterly valuation reviews for warrants and earn-out liabilities, and quarterly EPS and equity reconciliations.
  • Design, implement, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting in compliance with SOX and SEC requirements, and lead remediation of control deficiencies.
  • Serve as the primary accounting contact for internal and external audits and coordinate audit timelines, deliverables, and issue resolution.
  • Support forecast integrity, budget-to-actual variance analysis, and financial modeling for strategic and operational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA required.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public company and SEC reporting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX/internal controls.
  • Hands-on experience with equity accounting, stock-based compensation, EPS, and complex financial instruments.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing external audits.
  • Ability to operate in a publicly regulated SEC environment with high ownership and accountability.
  • Experience with technical accounting analysis and documentation for complex transactions.
  • Preferred: Big Four or national public accounting firm experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in an emerging or high-growth public company environment, especially in financial technology or banking.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $80–90 per hour.
  • Full-time contract/interim engagement.
  • Initial 2–3 week full-time period.
  • Anticipated 80–120 hours per month after week 3.
