Description

  • Set direction for the Customer Portal team and anticipate strategic and scaling challenges through long-term planning.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and analysts to build software that solves customer pain points.
  • Create shared understanding of the team’s decisions, direction, and progress across the company.
  • Support team members’ learning, growth, and career development through mentorship, pairing, and delegation.
  • Interview and assess candidates, and plan long-term headcount and recruiting needs.
  • Collaborate with other engineering leaders on division-wide engineering, technical, and product vision matters.
  • Maintain a strong focus on data-driven engineering, efficiency, and operational excellence.
  • Help maintain well-established sources of truth and workflow tools such as Jira.
  • Provide hands-on support where needed.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of leading an engineering team.
  • Experience with hiring and building engineering teams.
  • Previous experience as a software engineer.
  • Familiarity with Python and/or TypeScript is a bonus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working effectively in a distributed team environment.
  • Passion for fostering good engineering practices, culture, and processes.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and people leadership skills.
  • Ability to create a psychologically safe environment that enables strong team performance.
