Description

  • Design and build pipelines to collect supplier and chemical product data from supplier websites, distributor catalogs, trade databases, and other public or semi-structured sources.
  • Develop and maintain web scrapers and automated ETL workflows to keep supplier and product data current at scale.
  • Clean, normalize, and reconcile inconsistent supplier data into structured formats for internal tools and analytics.
  • Validate and enrich chemical data, including product names, CAS numbers, synonyms, specifications, certifications, and regulatory documents.
  • Evaluate and improve matching and classification models that connect suppliers and products to buyer requirements.
  • Identify overlapping or equivalent chemical offerings across suppliers.
  • Partner with Supplier Management and Engineering to define data-quality standards, address supplier coverage gaps, and prioritize data sources.
  • Own pipeline health, data quality, and KPIs for overall data coverage.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data science, data engineering, or an applied data role.
  • Working knowledge of chemistry or chemical industry data, including CAS numbers, chemical properties, SDS documents, NAICS classifications, and supplier certifications.
  • Strong Python skills and experience building web scrapers and data pipelines.
  • Experience cleaning and normalizing large-scale, unstructured, or inconsistent data.
  • Familiarity with matching, deduplication, or classification models using traditional machine learning or LLM-based approaches.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools and LLMs for data extraction, enrichment, or engineering workflows.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-moving remote startup environment with evolving priorities.
  • Strong ownership mindset and attention to data accuracy.
