Description

  • Analyze utility bills, tariff schedules, demand calculations, rider provisions, tax codes, and regulatory frameworks to identify billing errors and missed credits.
  • Conduct retroactive audits covering the full statute of limitations, often six years or more.
  • Use Python and UtiliSave tools to extract, clean, analyze, and automate anomaly detection across client portfolios.
  • Develop defensible claim theories using billing history, meter data, and account classifications.
  • Initiate and pursue refund and savings claims with clients, utilities, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Draft claim submissions, client summaries, regulatory correspondence, and other persuasive written materials.
  • Escalate disputed or delayed claims through administrative and regulatory channels, coordinating with outside utility-specialized counsel when needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of claims, supporting data, correspondence, and recovery outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the MIS group to build tools that improve account reviews and revenue generation.
  • Manage multiple accounts, jurisdictions, deadlines, and claim types while maintaining accuracy and momentum.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent academic, project, or internship experience mastering complex rule-based systems.
  • Completed undergraduate degree, or expected completion within six months; STEM, economics, finance, regulatory affairs, or pre-law preferred.
  • Daily proficiency in Python; experience with other programming languages is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, creative, and pattern-recognition abilities for developing technically sound claim theories.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for claim letters, reports, regulatory filings, and presentations.
  • Intellectual tenacity and willingness to pursue well-founded claims through resolution.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt across accounts and jurisdictions.
  • Experience with a regulated public utility, particularly rate billing analysis or customer interaction, preferred.
  • Must reside in the Eastern or Central Time Zone, including Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, or Alabama.
  • U.S. citizen or active Green Card holder; visa sponsorship is unavailable. Must work full-time remotely during core hours of 9:00 AM–6:00 PM Eastern Time.
