Description

  • Take ownership of a designated solid rocket motor manufacturing process from concept through production deployment.
  • Design, develop, and validate manufacturing processes and equipment to meet design, safety, and production requirements.
  • Create equipment specifications, statements of work, and test plans for new machinery.
  • Lead sourcing and procurement of capital equipment, including evaluation of machine builders and automation suppliers.
  • Manage internal and external design efforts for custom machines, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Oversee projects through installation, including factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for assigned processes and support motor builds on the production floor.
  • Develop and qualify processes by establishing critical process parameters and controls.
  • Author and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance documentation.
  • Analyze build data, non-conformances, and operator feedback to drive root-cause correction and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in manufacturing engineering developing and deploying new production processes and equipment.
  • Proven experience leading capital equipment projects from specification development through sourcing, installation, and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work hands-on as a subject matter expert on the production floor.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or CATIA for tooling and fixture design.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and become the subject matter expert in a new process area.
  • Previous experience in aerospace, defense, or energetics manufacturing, especially solid rocket motor production, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, ATF, DoD, or aerospace standards is preferred.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments, and process capability analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with process scale-up, equipment commissioning, or technology transfer from R&D to production is preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/MES systems and digital work instructions or batch records is preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience or certification is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Person, including U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
