Description

  • Manage end-to-end accounts payable and accounts receivable processes with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations, including credit card and supplier account reconciliations.
  • Process payroll in line with Australian requirements, including timesheets, leave balances, and award conditions where applicable.
  • Maintain and update financial records in Xero to ensure data integrity and compliance with internal standards.
  • Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journals, and preparation of management reports.
  • Assist with BAS preparation by accurately coding GST and maintaining compliant records.
  • Manage invoice processing, supplier payments, and customer billing in line with construction project timelines.
  • Work with the Office Manager to align financial data, procurement activities, and operational workflows.
  • Use Simpro to support job costing, project tracking, and financial visibility across construction projects.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and help implement improved systems, automation, and process enhancements.
  • Support document management, financial administration, cash flow tracking, and cost monitoring across multiple projects.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to resolve discrepancies, payment queries, and financial issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Finance Officer, Bookkeeper, or Accountant role within a small to medium-sized business.
  • Strong experience managing accounts, payroll, and reconciliations end-to-end.
  • Experience using Xero is essential.
  • Experience using Simpro or similar job management / ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of Australian accounting principles, including GST and BAS requirements, is highly desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of Word and Outlook.
  • High level of English communication skills (minimum B2–C1 equivalent), both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail with a systematic, methodical, and process-driven approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve systems, workflows, and automation, including exposure to AI tools or data processing improvements.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining accuracy, accountability, and communication standards.
  • Experience supporting construction, trades, or project-based businesses is highly advantageous.
