Description

  • Act as an autonomous finance partner to R&D, Product, and Engineering leadership on infrastructure cost topics.
  • Lead cross-functional discussions to determine whether cost increases are driven by usage growth or inefficient engineering configurations.
  • Partner with Accounting, Engineering, FP&A, and FinOps to ensure accurate COGS/OpEx classifications and cloud cost allocations.
  • Own the monthly and quarterly forecasting process for R&D hosting infrastructure.
  • Build dynamic financial models that account for complex and non-linear cloud billing from major providers and LLM partners.
  • Conduct deep-dive variance analyses and tie financial results to product and usage changes.
  • Identify cloud cost-containment opportunities and work with product managers to track efficiency strategies without harming performance.
  • Lead strategic analyses and projects to find ROI opportunities, reduce costs, and support scenario planning and investment trade-offs.
  • Track vendor spend, cloud capacity utilization, and budget consumption across core R&D functions.
  • Communicate complex financial and cloud cost analyses clearly to non-financial and engineering stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of finance experience in progressive FP&A, operational finance, or strategic corporate finance roles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and deep-dive capabilities to investigate complex technical issues and large cloud data footprints.
  • Expertise in Excel or Google Sheets for multi-variable, driver-based financial models and cloud infrastructure spend analysis.
  • Proven ability to work independently and thrive in highly ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate technical variances for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify and automate financial and business processes, modeling, and reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Computer Science, or a related operational field (preferred).
  • Direct experience managing cloud infrastructure or hosting spend in a high-growth technology, SaaS, or cloud environment (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Anaplan, Oracle, or specialized cloud cost optimization tools (preferred).
  • Experience using Gen AI tools to drive simplification and automation (preferred).
