Description

  • Identify gaps in benchmark and evaluation research and design novel evaluations across STEM and general model capabilities.
  • Develop task-generation, grading, contamination-control, difficulty-calibration, and validation methodologies.
  • Create high-quality synthetic STEM training data and study its impact on model performance.
  • Research hallucination, uncertainty, calibration, verification, citation, self-correction, and appropriate abstention.
  • Develop and evaluate long-horizon AI agents for literature search, coding, simulation, experimentation, and tool use.
  • Design experiments and research programs from initial hypotheses through implementation, validation, and publication.
  • Identify new research directions in reasoning, AI evaluation, AI-for-science, data generation, and emerging capabilities.
  • Communicate findings through technical writing, publications, datasets, benchmarks, and conference submissions.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent research experience in machine learning, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, statistics, or another highly technical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute original research.
  • Strong understanding of modern LLMs and the frontier AI research landscape.
  • Excellent experimental design, quantitative reasoning, and scientific judgment.
  • Ability to rapidly understand unfamiliar technical literature and develop expertise in new areas.
  • Strong Python skills and ability to independently build research prototypes and evaluation pipelines.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Comfort working autonomously in a fast-moving environment with an evolving research agenda.
  • A strong publication record is valuable, particularly at conferences such as ICLR, ICML, or NeurIPS.
