Description

  • Lead and develop a cross-functional engineering squad aligned to the acquisition strategy.
  • Line-manage a small team of engineers, including personal development, performance, and day-to-day wellbeing.
  • Partner closely with Product and Design as a strategic peer to co-own roadmap decisions and squad outcomes.
  • Challenge roadmap assumptions and bring engineering context into product and delivery decisions.
  • Share accountability for squad health, delivery, technical direction, and the metrics that matter.
  • Drive a test-and-learn culture by shipping lean experiments, validating assumptions early, and improving delivery continuously.
  • Use metrics such as DORA to diagnose delivery bottlenecks and support continuous improvement.
  • Guide technical feasibility across frontend, backend, and mobile to ensure the squad solves the right problems.
  • Champion AI-augmented working and set an example for collaborating effectively with tools like Copilot, Claude, and LLMs.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of genuine engineering management experience, including PDPs, performance conversations, and team health ownership.
  • Senior engineering background with the ability to think architecturally and challenge code or technical decisions.
  • Experience in a B2C environment, ideally in acquisition or growth.
  • Ability to push back on scope when needed and influence what gets built.
  • Ability to distinguish between when to run a lean experiment and when to invest in foundations.
  • Ability to frame technical trade-offs clearly for audiences beyond engineering.
  • Experience with or exposure to a stack including React, React Native, NextJS, Python Django, and AWS.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving scale-up environment with changing priorities.

  • £90,000 to £95,000 annual salary.
