Professional Services

Description

  • Conduct archaeological pedestrian surveys in the field.
  • Collect archaeological data using GPS, photographs, site forms, site sketches, and artifact sketches.
  • Perform subsurface testing and identify artifacts as needed.
  • Measure and fully record artifacts.
  • Prepare accurate and high-quality field notes.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team in support of field projects.
  • Complete other duties as requested during field assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • At least 6 months of archaeological field experience or field school experience.
  • Experience performing archaeological survey and excavation.
  • Ability to hike long distances and work in difficult terrain, including up to 5 to 10 miles per day.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and detailed note-taking skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate GPS units and navigate using USGS maps, aerial photography, and a compass preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must understand and comply with company safety standards.
  • Access to a laptop or computer for timesheets, expense reports, and office tasks.
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination required, subject to bona fide medical and religious exemptions.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must pass fit-for-work testing, including Drug & Alcohol testing.

Benefits

  • $20-25/hr pay based on experience.
  • Per diem, generally no less than $50 per day.
  • Hotel or lodging covered by Sundance.
  • Temporary, part-time hourly position with approximately 45 to 50 hours per week.
  • Overnight and day travel as needed for field work.
  • Opportunities for post-field office work may be available at the project team’s discretion.
