Professional Services

Description

  • Conduct archaeological pedestrian surveys in project areas.
  • Collect archaeological field data, including GPS points, photographs, site forms, site sketches, and artifact sketches.
  • Perform subsurface testing and assist with artifact identification.
  • Measure and fully document artifacts in the field.
  • Prepare accurate, high-quality field notes and records.
  • Work independently or as part of a field team as needed.
  • Support additional field duties as requested.
  • Travel overnight or by day to support fieldwork and remote project sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • At least 6 months of archaeological field experience or field school experience.
  • Experience performing archaeological survey and excavation.
  • Ability to hike long distances and work in difficult terrain, up to 5 to 10 miles per day.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and contribute proactively to a project team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and detailed note-taking skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate GPS units and navigate using USGS maps, aerial photography, and a compass preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must understand and comply with company safety standards.
  • Access to a laptop or computer for timesheets, expense reports, and office tasks.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to medical and religious exemptions.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Must pass fit-for-work testing, including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Residence in Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, or New Mexico is highly preferred but not required.

Benefits

  • Pay of $20-25 per hour, based on experience.
  • Per diem generally no less than $50 per day, based on field location.
  • Hotel or lodging covered by Sundance.
  • Temporary, part-time, hourly position with approximately 45 to 50 hours per week.
  • Opportunities for post-field office work may be available at the project team’s discretion.
