Description

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, software deployment/offloading, and safety checks before test runs.
  • Monitor weather, traffic, road, infrastructure, vehicle operations, safety driver behavior, and software data during testing.
  • Check vehicle grounding and status conditions before and during tests.
  • Pause or stop vehicle operations when needed to reduce risk and promptly notify the operations manager.
  • Analyze incidents to determine appropriate response and safe mitigation actions.
  • Review daily logistics reports and environmental conditions to identify testing opportunities.
  • Provide detailed analysis, concise feedback, and documentation on test runs to engineers and managers.
  • Report repairs, maintenance needs, and safety concerns before vehicle operation.

Requirements

  • Experience in computer science or strong computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of transportation, engineering, or safety.
  • Ability to monitor software on a laptop and read, analyze, and type while riding in a moving vehicle for extended periods.
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently without distractions throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stay alert, maintain continuous focus, and respond appropriately in a highly stressful, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to climb into and out of cars and trucks and sit in a vehicle for 4 to 10 hours daily.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • 6+ years of experience driving on U.S. roads.
  • Must comply with Torc’s alcohol and drug policy, including pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing.
  • Ability to travel 1-2 nights per week, with travel paid by the company.
  • Familiarity with scripting in a Linux system (preferred).
  • Knowledge of transportation and/or logistics (preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills (preferred).
  • Passion for autonomous vehicles, vehicle maintenance, and long-distance driving (preferred).
