Description

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, software deployment and offloading, and safety checks.
  • Monitor external weather, traffic, road, infrastructure, vehicle operations, safety driver performance, and software data during testing.
  • Check vehicle grounding or status updates before and during tests.
  • Pause or stop vehicle operations when needed to reduce risk and inform the operations manager immediately.
  • Analyze incidents to determine the appropriate response and safe mitigation steps.
  • Review daily logistics reports and route conditions to identify test opportunities.
  • Document test runs and provide detailed feedback to engineers and managers.
  • Report repairs, maintenance needs, and safety concerns before vehicle operation.

Requirements

  • Experience in computer science or strong computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of transportation, engineering, or safety.
  • Ability to monitor software on a laptop and read, analyze, and type in a moving vehicle for extended periods.
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and without distractions throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stay alert, focused, composed, and responsive in a highly stressful, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to climb into and out of cars and trucks and sit for 4 to 10 hours in a vehicle daily.
  • Valid US driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • 6+ years of experience driving on US roads.
  • Ability to comply with Torc’s alcohol and drug policy, including pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized testing.
  • Ability to travel 1-2 nights per week, with travel paid by the company.
  • Familiarity with scripting in a Linux system (preferred).
  • Knowledge of transportation and/or logistics (preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills (preferred).
  • Passion for autonomous vehicles, vehicle maintenance, or long-distance driving (preferred).
